Inaugural 2025 CERRT ‘SPARK’ Award Presented to Eric Wang, PhD

The Center for Excellence in RNA Research and Therapeutics (CERRT) is proud to announce Dr. Eric Wang as the recipient of the inaugural 2025 CERRT “SPARK” Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to RNA research, education, and workforce development.

Dr. Wang’s groundbreaking work has significantly advanced our understanding of RNA biology, particularly in the context of Myotonic Dystrophy, a devastating genetic disorder caused by toxic RNA. In addition to his scientific achievements, Dr. Wang has been a passionate advocate for raising awareness of this disease and remains deeply committed to developing a cure.

Reflecting on the honor, Dr. Wang shared:

“It was a nice surprise to receive this award to recognize our efforts in myotonic dystrophy and RNA research. I’m grateful for all the students, postdocs, collaborators, and colleagues who made this work possible over the years — this award is for them too!”
