Dr. Marina Scotti awarded RO1 supplemental fellowship

Dr. Marina Scotti, a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Ranum Lab, was recently awarded a two-year minority fellowship from the National Institutes for Health (2016-2018).

The goals of the parent project grant entitled “Molecular characterization of ALS/FTD in a novel C9orf72 BAC mouse model,” are to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the neuronal degeneration in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) linked to the microsatellite GGGGCC (G4C2) repeat expansion in the C9orf72 gene (C9-ALS/FTD).
