John Douglas Cleary, M.Sc., PhD

John Cleary received his B.Sc (Honours Applied Biochemistry) and M.Sc. (Molecular Biochemistry) from the University of Guelph (Canada).  He subsequently acquired his PhD in the Medical Genetics Department at the University of Toronto (Canada) under the supervision of Dr. Christopher Pearson.  His doctoral studies focused on DNA replication and trinucleotide repeat instability at the human myotonic dystrophy type 1 locus.  He is currently pursuing his interests in the pathogenesis of complex human disorders, such as myotonic dystrophy, as a postdoctoral associate in the Ranum lab.  Dr Cleary is currently supported by a fellowship from the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation (MDF).
