Hannah’s Shades of Purple Tour
Hannah and her family have been involved with the Center for NeuroGenetics for over four years and families like her’s are a main driving force behind what we do at the Center. Our friend Hannah has a very rare neurodegenerative disease called spinocerebellar ataxia type 8, or SCA8. Her happy disposition and positive outlook on life in the face of adversity are what motivates us to do all that we can to find a treatment or cure for SCA8 and other neurogenetic disorders. In typical Hannah fashion she is showing us how to live life to the fullest and inspiring us to keep our research moving forward.
For 3 weeks Hannah and her father Michael will be traveling the southwestern United States to visit many of the amazing National Parks. In addition to spreading her special kind of Hannah joy and seeing amazing sights, she and her father are using this trip as an opportunity to educate people about ataxia and other neurogenetic diseases. They are also raising money that will go directly towards research being done on these devastating diseases with the end goal of creating therapies and cures. We are very excited for Hannah and her upcoming adventures and we are very grateful that she and her family are choosing to support the research here at the Center for NeuroGenetics.
